Tapani Ryhänen is the Head of Multimedia Devices Research at Nokia Research Center. He is leading the strategic research activities in the areas of future user interfaces, mobile video systems, future digital home, multimedia device architectures, mechanics and miniaturization. The work is targeting to future device concepts and architectures as well as to key enabling technologies.
His work at Nokia has also covered sensor technologies and applications, wellness and health applications, ambient intelligence, RF MEMS, micro- and nanotechnologies, architectures and interfaces of peripheral devices, such as sensor modules and mass storage solutions.
Tapani received his M.Sc. in Technical Physics in 1986 and his Ph.D. in Electronics in 1992 from the Helsinki University of Technology. He joined Nokia in 1995. Tapani has authored over 60 publications and has nine patents.
